Why is my cited content highlighted in red?

The system did not recognize the content as a reference. Ensure that your references are correctly formatted and placed after the “references” section.

Do abstracts, directories, and appendices need to be involved in the detection?

It is recommended to remove the cover, directory, appendix, pictures, tables, formulas and other contents during the detection. These contents are not included in the school’s duplicate check items.

Which similarity index should I refer to in the report?

Refer to the “Similarity Index” for the overall similarity rate. The other indices show similarity rates compared to specific sources like the internet, publications, and student papers.

When submitting to check, you can choose whether to exlude bibliography and quotes based on your needs.

What do the different colors in the full-text report indicate?

Different colors and sequence numbers correspond to different sources in the source list. They help distinguish between sources and indicate the similarity rate for each source. Modify the colored sentences to reduce the plagiarism rate.

Why is my original content highlighted in red?

The detection algorithm is based on text similarity. If your content is similar to other documents, it will be marked as similar, regardless of whether it is plagiarized.

Is my document safe?

The entire process is automated, and reports are periodically cleaned after the check process is finished.

You can also manually delete the report after downloading it to ensure no risk of leakage.

Will my school know that my paper has been checked?

Turnitin Checker does not store your documents. If a document were stored, the similarity rate would be 100% on the second check, which is not the case.

How to reduce similarity?

  • Replace keywords in sentences and replace keywords with synonyms.
  • Change the sentence structure of the colored part and disrupt the structure.
  • Try to convert repeated tables into pictures.

How are the colors of the originality report different?

Colors are differentiated based on the total similarity index:
